Due to electric static discharge of the players the scanner can stop functioning. Players get static charged due to crawling over the PVC covers and tubes. This happens most often with newly build Hitit arena's. To fix this remove the front and disconnect and then connect the scanner to the USB port of the tablet. The scanner will then work again. You can also request support to restart the target.
